JULIAN GEMBALSKI (ur. 1950 w Siemianowicach Śląskich) – absolwent Państwowej Wyższej Szkoły Muzycznej w Katowicach, w klasie organów Henryka Klaji oraz na Wydziale Kompozycji i Teorii (dyplomy obu specjalności z wyróżnieniem w 1975 roku). Kurs mistrzowski u prof. Flor Peetersa w Mechelen (Belgia) oraz dalsze studia w Paryżu, pod kierunkiem Andre Isoir’a i Michela’a Chapuis (organy) oraz Jean’a Saint-Arroman (muzykologia). Prowadzi ożywioną działalność artystyczną, naukową i pedagogiczną. Występował z koncertami w całej Europie oraz w USA, nagrywał dla Polskiego Radia (m.in. seria „Antologia Organów na Górnym Śląsku”, gdzie zarejestrował 90 organów regionu) i telewizji. Nagrał ok. 40 płyt CD, w tym siedem z sopranistką Elżbietą Grodzką-Łopuszyńską. Jest laureatem I nagród w konkursach improwizacji fortepianowej w Gdańsku i Nowej Rudzie oraz improwizacji organowej w Weimarze, a także wielu innych nagród, (m.in. nagrody „Orfeusza” XXXVIII Festiwalu „Warszawska Jesień”, nagrody im. Wojciecha Korfantego, nagrody Arcybiskupa Katowickiego „Lux ex Silesia”, nagrody „Śląski Szmaragd” Biskupa Ewangelicko-Augsburskiego; odznaczony przez Papieża Jana Pawła II medalem „Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice”). Honorowy Ślązak Roku, Honorowy Obywatel Miasta Sejny i Powiatu Bieruńsko-Lędzińskiego. Autor wielu prac z zakresu historii organów na Śląsku, problematyki ochrony i konserwacji organów zabytkowych, a także projektant wielu instrumentów. Profesor Akademii Muzycznej w Katowicach, gdzie prowadzi klasę organów i kieruje Katedrą Organów i Muzyki Kościelnej. W latach 1996-2002 był Rektorem swej macierzystej uczelni. Od wielu lat jest też Archidiecezjalnym Wizytatorem Organów i Organistów. W 2004 roku założył pierwsze w Europie Środkowo-Wschodniej Muzeum Organów.

JULIAN GEMBALSKI - graduate of the Music Academy in Katowice, in the organ class of Henryk Klaja and the Faculty of Composition and Theory (diplomas of both specialties with honors in 1975). He took part in master's course with professor Flor Peeters in Mechelen (Belgium) and continued his studies in Paris, under the direction of Andre Isoir and Michael Chapuis (organ) and Jean Saint-Arroman (musicology), He conducts intense artistic, scientific and pedagogical activities. He has performed all over Europe and in the USA. He has recorded for television and the Polish Radio (including the Organ Anthology in Upper Silesia series, in which he recorded 90 instruments of the region). He has recorded over 40 CDs, including seven with the soprano singer Elżbieta Grodzka-Łopuszyńska. He is a laureate of first prizes in piano improvisation competitions in Gdansk and Nova Ruda and organ improvisation competitions in Weimar. He has been honored with many other awards, including the Orfeusz award at the 38th Warsaw Autumn Festival, Wojciech Korfanty Award, Lux ex Silesia award of the Katowice Archbishop Silesian Emerald Award of the Evangelical-Augsburg Bishop and he was decorated with the Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice medal by Pope John Paul II. His titles include Honorary Silesian of the Year, Honorary Citizen of the City of Sejny and the Bieruńsko-Lędzińskie County. He is the author of numerous works on the history of organs in Silesia, as well as the issues of protection and preservation of historic organs. Hi is also the designer of many instruments. Gembalski is a professor at the Academy of Music in Katowice, where he teaches the organ Class and directs the Department of Organ and Harpsichord. In the years 1996-2002 he was the rector of his alma mater. For many years he his been the Archdiocese inspector of Organs and Organist ln 2004 he founded the first Organ Museum in Middle-Eastern Europe.

JULIAN GEMBALSKI (geb. 1950 in Siemianowice Śląskie), Absolvent der Staatlichen Musikhochschule in Katowice – Studium an der Fakultät für Komposition und Musik-Theorie sowie an der Instrumentalfakultät, Orgelklasse von Henryk Klaja). Im Jahre 1978 Meisterkurs beim Prof. Flor Peters in Mechelen (Belgien). In den Jahren 1979-1980 weiteres Studium in Paris unter Leitung von Andre Isoir und Michel Chapuis (Orgel) sowie Jean Saint-Arroman (Musikwissenschaft). Laureat der ersten Preise an Klavierimprovisationswettbewerben in Gdańsk und Nowa Ruda sowie am Orgelimprovisationswettbewerb in Weimar. Preisträger vieler anderer Preise, u.a. des Orpheus-Preises bei den 38. Festspielen „Warschauer Herbst“, des Korfanty-Preises, des Preises des Erzbischofs von Katowice „Lux ex Silesia“, ausgezeichnet vom Papst Johannes Paul II mit der Medaille „Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice“, als auch mit der Medaille der Volksbildung und der Medaille „Gloria Artis“. Julian Gembalski führt eine lebhafte künstlerische Tätigkeit. Konzerte in ganz Europa und in den USA, Tonaufnahmen für das polnische Radio (u.a. Reihe der Rundfunkaufnahmen „Anthologie der Orgeln in Oberschlesien“, in der er den Klang von ca. 90 Orgeln der Region registriert hat) und fürs Fernsehen sowie für das deutsche und dänische Radio, 40 CD-Aufnahmen (u.a. Serie „Sound of Silesian Organs“, 7 CD mit die Sopranistin Elżbieta Grodzka-Łopuszyńska). Außer der künstlerischen und Komponistentätigkeit beschäftigt er sich mit der wissenschaftlichen und pädagogischen Arbeit. Autor von zahlreichen Publikationen im Bereich der Orgelgeschichte in Schlesien, der Problematik des Schutzes und der Konservierung von altertümlichen Instrumenten, als auch Projektant von vielen Orgeln u.a. der ersten Orgel in Polen im Stil des französischen und deutschen Barocks. Im Jahre 1992 wurde ihm der wissenschaftliche Titel des Professors verliehen. Derzeit ist er ordentlicher Professor an der Musikhochschule in Katowice, wo er die Orgelklasse führt und den Lehrstuhl für Orgel und Kirchenmusik leitet. In den Jahren 1996 bis 2002 nahm er die Stellung des Rektors der Musikhochschule in Katowice. Seit vielen Jahren Erzdiözesaninspektor für Orgeln und Organisten sowie Vorsitzender der Orgelbau-Sektion der Kommission für Sakrale Musik in Katowice. Gründer des ersten Orgel-Museums in Mittel-Ost-Europa (2004).
